Kirkwood Urban Forest (KUF) Preserve is an urban forest created in 2004-2006 by the Georgia Forestry Commission and the City of Atlanta Parks Department to preserve forested areas from development. It is managed by Friends of KUF Preserve and the Kirkwood Neighbor's Organization Environmental Committee with partners like Trees Atlanta and Park Pride, as well as the City of Atlanta Parks Department. The Preserve's care follows strict guidelines including no non-native plantings, no impervious surfaces, no vehicle amenities, and minimal use of pesticides and herbicides.

    Land set aside for preserving natural resources, historic landscapes, open space, and providing visual aesthetics/buffering. Provides passive-use opportunities such as low impact trail corridors with an emphasis on ecological stewardship and wildlife protection.
