Blue Heron Nature Preserve

Nestled in Atlanta’s North Buckhead neighborhood, Blue Heron Nature Preserve is home to the 3-mile Blueway Trail which allows visitors to experience 30 acres of woodlands, wetlands, riparian areas and meadows – all without leaving the city.

Candler Park

Grant Park

Grant Park is Atlanta's oldest and fourth largest park, located in the heart of the Grant Park community. It was donated to the City of Atlanta by philanthropist and railroad engineer Lemuel P. Grant in 1882 and officially opened in 1883 with no racial restrictions. In 1903, landscape architectural firm Olmsted Brothers was contracted to design the park and proposed a naturalistic planting scheme, expanding Lake Abana and adding sinuous walks, which remain as lasting legacies of their plan. The park is home to one of the city's oldest fountains and entryway to Zoo Atlanta. Zoo Atlanta is home more than 1,500 animals from 220 species. The park also features a baseball field, 4 tennis courts, 1.5 basketball courts, a pool and a recreation center. 

Historic Fourth Ward Park

Clear Creek Basin at Historic Fourth Ward Park is designed to address quality of life, environmental sustainability and economic efficiency by providing a solution to the stormwater run-off problem through a unique community partnership. The park features a two-acre stormwater detention pond built by the Department of Watershed Management that has reduced flooding in nearby neighborhoods and a pond below the site's water table that generates 425 gallons a minute, even in a drought. The pond water is used to water the park's lawns and playing fields and additional water features include a ten-foot waterfall and a stone water cascade. The park was built at a cost of $23,000,000 and includes various other construction elements such as walkways, culverts, lighting and landscaping. The walkways surround the pond and a boardwalk crosses over one section. There is a small amphitheater at one end of the pond. The park also features a playground and splash pad. 

Knight Park

Westside Park

Atlanta's Westside Park officially opened to the public on August 20th 2021. It is the largest greenspace in the city, with 280 acres and a 350-foot deep reservoir holding 2.4 billion gallons of emergency water reserves. The park has a variety of trails for walking and biking, including a half-mile blue loop, a .30 yellow loop, a 1.35-mile purple loop, and a .66-mile red trail. The park also has a playground, two covered pavilions, public restrooms, and bike racks. Access to the park is available by car and bike, with two paved lots at 1600 and 1660 Johnson Road Northwest, as well as pedestrian and cyclist access from the Proctor Creek Greenway and the Grove Park neighborhood. The reservoir is the main attraction of the park. The grand overlook provides a view of the quarry with downtown skyscrapers in the background.
